Rooted in Nature
Inspired by Curiosity
Guided by Heart

At Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery, our curriculum is more than a framework, it’s a philosophy. It reflects our deep belief that children learn best in nurturing, nature, rich environments where they feel safe, loved, and free to explore.

We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning and development. This is thoughtfully integrated with our unique Home Grown ethos, one that champions sustainability, mindfulness, and nurturing the whole child.

Through a blend of structured guidance and free exploration, we offer children the best of both worlds: the developmental security of EYFS with the wonder and creativity of childled, nature, based learning.

At Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery we provide our children with experiences and support to encourage them to develop a positive sense of themselves, their peers and their environment. Through stimulating and practical activities which guide the children to ask questions and consider consequences, we promote an understanding that people, animals, plants and habitats can live and work together harmoniously.

Children evolve from day to day and it is through language and communication that they learn to express themselves and respond to situations. We expose our children to many rich and diverse methods of communication developing skills and confidence to freely express themselves, answer and consider questions.

Our approach to Mathematics is to create a curiosity and sense of achievement through practical and vibrant activities. By combining counting, numerals, comparative language and simple sums with fun, organic and relevant tasks, we strive to meet each child’s full potential and give them the skills and knowledge they require for the next step in their learning development.

One of our main objectives is to help children make sense of their surroundings and the world. Children will be encouraged to question the source and origins of their food, toys and furniture  and learn to gain a respect and love for life.

At such a young age, physical development is extremely important. We strive to motivate our children to use their bodies in an independent, challenging and interesting manner. Our indoor and outdoor space has been designed to encourage children to push boundaries  and develop movement skills through guidance and praise. Using natural play equipment children will be given the opportunity to discover our environment and learn about the importance of keeping healthy, active and in tune with nature.

At Home Grown Nursery we are committed to providing opportunities for children to experiment and fulfill their natural ability to be creative. As well as offering opportunities for children to express their feelings and ideas through movement, art, music, dance and role play, core skills such as literacy and numeracy will be taught using creative and engaging methods. Arts and music that has made an impact on the world will be introduced and different mediums explored. Children will have the opportunity to creatively explore natural elements, environments and habitats to appreciate our planet’s natural creative development.

Through the exploration of books, poems and songs our children develop a passion for new words and sounds (phonics) and the skills to mark make and form  letters.

Green Engagement Programme

Nurturing a Love for Nature, One Day at a Time

At Home Grown, our Green Engagement Programme is more than just an introduction to sustainability, it’s a way of life. We believe that children develop a deep respect for the earth when they are given the time, space, and freedom to explore its wonders firsthand.

Through daily nature, based experiences, like organic gardening, composting, recycling, and observing living things, children begin to understand the precious balance of the natural world. Whether they are planting seeds, learning about endangered animals, or discovering the magic of rainforests, they are gently guided to see themselves as guardians of the planet.

Every moment in nature is an opportunity to grow. Our little explorers find joy in barefoot walks through the garden, tending to our vegetable patch, building homes for bugs, or sitting quietly under a tree listening to birdsongs. These simple, grounding experiences foster mindfulness, curiosity, and emotional wellbeing.

The Green Engagement Programme also celebrates the beauty of both cultural and ecological diversity, encouraging children to notice, respect, and embrace the richness of life in all its forms.

To strengthen the home, school connection, we share weekly class timetables with families, outlining the week’s green activities and learning goals. This helps families carry the spirit of eco, awareness into their homes and supports a shared journey of learning and wonder.

Our Ethos

Nurtured by Nature. Guided by Heart. Grounded in Purpose.

At Home Grown Children’s Eco-Nursery, our ethos is not just a philosophy—it’s a way of life. We believe that the earliest years of a child’s life are the most formative. These are the years where character is built, emotional intelligence takes root, and a sense of the world begins to unfold. That’s why our nursery is built on a foundation of love, trust, and compassion—values that flow through every part of our day, every relationship, every experience.

We strive to create a peaceful, respectful, and holistic learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to grow—not just academically, but socially, emotionally, spiritually, and environmentally.

Sustainability

Our deep respect for the Earth is reflected in all we do. We believe children learn best when they are immersed in the natural world. Sustainability is not taught as a subject, but as a daily practice. Children recycle, compost, care for our gardens, and take part in eco-conscious activities that cultivate responsibility, empathy, and wonder.

By weaving environmental awareness into our curriculum, we help children build a lifelong relationship with the planet, grounded in love and gratitude.

Connection

Human connection is at the heart of our nursery. We value every child as a unique individual with their own voice, story, and unlimited potential. Emotional Development is at the heart of all that we pursue and to connect a child to their inner self is essential. This connection nurtures resilience, self awareness and a strong foundation for wellbeing.

We also believe in the power of community. Families are our partners, not just participants. We work closely with parents to ensure that the care and learning children receive is consistent, intentional, and supportive of their home lives.

Kindness, Compassion and Empathy

Our ethos centres around creating an emotionally safe environment—where children are not rushed, labelled, or expected to fit into boxes.

Instead, they are held gently and encouraged to grow at their own pace, supported by mindful educators who model kindness. Compassion and empathy.

We introduce calming rituals like mindfulness, gratitude circles, and gentle storytelling to help children develop inner calm and emotional awareness.

A Home Away from Home

At Home Grown, we often say that we are not just a nursery—we are a village. A safe, loving space where children feel free to be their most authentic selves.

Where muddy hands are celebrated, emotions are honoured, creativity is encouraged, and nature is our greatest teacher.

Our ethos is simple: if a child is held with love, they will learn. If they are heard, they will speak their truth. If they are connected to nature, they will grow strong, rooted, and whole.
This is what it means to be Home Grown.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Each child will be provided with a weekly class timetable of the activities and objectives in order to encourage and support continued learning at home and familiarise parents with their child’s daily programme.
